Donor Agency
The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID RDMA) manages regional and transnational programs that stretch across Asia and into the Pacific without the USAID Mission, including Burma, China, Laos, and Thailand. Its Regional Environment Office (REO) implements regional environmental activities in the areas of water and sanitation, biodiversity conservation and forestry, climate change, and clean energy to address cross-cutting environmental challenges, catalyze change by sharing and replicating innovation, and sustain impacts through regional institutions or networks.
Project Lead
DAI has worked on the frontlines of global development for over 40 years, transforming ideas into action and action into impact, by bringing together combinations of expertise and innovation across multiple disciplines: crisis mitigation and stability operations, democratic governance and public sector management, agriculture and agribusiness, private sector development and financial services, economics and trade, HIV/AIDS and disease control, water and natural resources management, and energy and climate change. Currently, DAI is delivering results that matter in more than 60 countries worldwide. DAI is committed to shaping a more livable world.
Subcontract Partners
Established in 1999, ICEM - International Centre for Environmental Management is an independent technical service center that helps governments, private sector, and communities define and implement policies for ecologically sustainable development. ICEM builds its strength from sharing responsibility, technical capacities and resources for sustainable development through partnerships. ICEM is responsible for conducting the climate change impact and adaptation study to assess the vulnerabilities to climate change. The study will provide fresh insights for policy-makers on the projected-effects of climate change across the LMB, and serve as the foundation for strategies to assist the basin’s most vulnerable communities in adapting to the negative impacts of climate change.
The World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global environmental think tank that goes beyond research to put ideas into action. WRI has over 50 active projects working on aspects of global climate change, sustainable markets, ecosystem protection, and environmentally responsible governance. WRI is responsible for supporting project monitoring and evaluation, including application of M&E tools relevant to project data collection, reviewing of M&E system design, and compiling findings and drawing lessons learned from the implementation. WRI will also ground USAID Mekong ARCC field activities in global best practices and contribute to the development of ecosystem valuation guidelines, using a strategy tested under their Mainstreaming Ecosystems Services Initiative.

Founded in 1948 as the World’s first global environmental organization, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) works with partners throughout Asia to promote ecosystem based approaches to climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, food security, and livelihoods programming. IUCN has maintained its regional office in Thailand since the early 1990s, and its Thailand Program began in 2001.

IUCN Thailand will work closely with local communities in the Mae Chan District of Chiang Rai Province, and the Tao Ngoi District of Sakon Nakhon Province, building their capacity to implement adaptation initiatives that strengthen livelihoods and ecosystems resilience to climate change.

IUCN in Lao PDR will support local communities in Nakai District, Khammouan, to prioritize adaptation options and integrate climate adaptation into the community planning process.
