This section explains how USAID Mekong ARCC will handle information we receive from your visit to our site. It also depends upon what you do when you visit our site.

1. Information collected and stored automatically

If you browse through our site, read pages, and download information, we will gather and store the following information about your visit automatically:

  • - IP Address from which you access the Internet

  • - Type of browser used to access our site

  • - Date and time you access our site

  • - Pages you visit and viewed

  • - File names or keywords you searched for

  • - The address of another website from which you linked directly to our site

The information above does not identify you personally. We use the information we collect to obtain the number of visitors to the different pages of our site, to learn what information is most viewed, and to help us improve our site more useful to visitors.

2. If you choose to provide us your personal information through our site

When you send us a comment in Blog section or request a ‘Subscribe Me’ service, you may choose to identify yourself by sending us your personally-identifying information, including your email address.

If you choose ‘Subscribe Me’ service, you will receive the USAID Mekong ARCC newsletter sent by the third-party email distribution system to your given email address. This ‘Subscribe Me’ service is optional and may be turned off at any time by choosing the unsubscribe service in the sent email.

In certain instance, such as blog comments, the information you provide may be visible to the public. Please do not share any personal information that you do not want made available to the public. USAID Mekong ARCC is not responsible for how other visitors may use your information.

This information is collected only if specifically and knowingly provided by you. We do not give, sell or transfer any personal information to a third party. We use personally-identifying information to respond to your comment and suggestion, and measure the number of people sending us comments. The information gathered is used for two purposes: site management and, in the case of suspected unauthorized activity, for law enforcement and possible criminal prosecution.

3. If you choose to send us an e-mail

You may choose to provide us with personal information as an e-mail with a comment or question. We use the information to improve our service to you or to respond to your request. In certain instance, we forward your e-mail to other government agencies or departments who are in the best position to respond to your e-mail message. We maintain the information we collect in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, where applicable.

4. Use of Cookies

Cookies are essentially tokens of information. There are two types of cookies: persistent cookies and session cookies. ‘Persistent cookies’ are essentially created and stored on your computer to make it easy for you to keep track of your movements within the site, help you resume where you left off, remember your registered login, theme selection, preferences, and other customization functions. On the other hand, ‘session cookies’ are small text files created temporarily in your browser’s subfolder and are deleted once you close your browser.

In general, our site uses typical session cookies only to make your visit from a page to another much easier. Some of the links on this site point to site external to which may place cookies on your computer. If you want to avoid such cookies, we encourage you to set your browser to notify you when cookies are being set and allow you to reject them. Your system's help file will explain how to do this.
