USAID Mekong Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change (USAID Mekong ARCC) project is working across 20 communities in Lower Mekong Basin, covering Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change in the Lower Mekong Basin and to increase communities’ resilience to these impacts on food security and livelihoods.
According to USAID Mekong ARCC's surveys of climate change awareness with 290 women in Thailand and Vietnam, it shows that:
- Before implementing activities, 39% of women in target communities were aware of climate change;
- After implementing climate change adaptation decision making activities, 85% of women in target communities were aware of climate change;
- Women reported have increased understanding of climate change; and
- 79% of women reported have used the weather information.
Note that the target communities are in Chiang Rai Province and Sakon Nakhon Province of Thailand, and Kien Giang Province of Vietnam.
